Patterns
During our whole class Maths lessons we have been
working on ‘patterns’. I have been asking my students questions such as: What
comes next?, What is missing? What are other ways we can create patterns? What
makes something a pattern?
Recent research shows that students working with
patterns, and learning pattern awareness teaches them about shapes, counting,
sequencing, differences, similarities (regular and irregular mathematical
features/concepts), and early algebratic thinking.
Furthermore, we will be making patterns that involve
pictures, words, and of course NUMBERS! To
